I hope you are well. I just tried to give you a ring but missed you. I want to make sure you are aware that your insurance policy expired today 09/01. You are still in the grace period if you would like to make payment and renew.

 

I just called the insurance carrier again and they have not yet reviewed the new alarm certificate as today is only the 3^rd business day but they advised that if the policy is not renewed, then they will not be able to apply any potential discounts, if they approve the alarm certificate, because the policy is not active. I wanted to pass this information along to you as I know you are awaiting to hear from them.

 

We also did try and re-shop your insurance policy for you through the market but Universal is still returning the most competitive pricing.

 

As of now, the policy is expired and if you want to renew, payment is needed to do so. If it is renewed, then the carrier will apply the alarm credit then, if they approve it. I know you were hoping to have the renewal amount updated first, which I completely understand. We did try and see if the insurance company could accommodate this but unfortunately our hands are tied as this is on the insurance carrier’s end.

I hope that you have been doing well. I tried to give you a ring to go through this with you but I missed you. Yes, alarm credits can be added at any point in time during the policy period. Insurance carriers will apply the discount at the point that they receive the credit though, they do not backdate them, this has never been the case.

 

I understand wanting to have the alarm credit processed prior to paying the renewal. I did just try to call the carrier for you to see if they can expedite their review of the latest alarm certificate but they said that unfortunately they cannot process it any faster. They advised that it takes 4 business days for the review. If there was anything that I can do to expedite the review for you, I would, but it is unfortunately not up to me, it is the insurance carrier.

 

As soon as we heart back from the insurance company, I will let you know. Please feel free to call me or let me know if you have any other questions.

Hello Darlene and Lucas,

We now have the "Nine Central Fire Alarm Letter" acknowledged by Universal,

as well as the fact that this situation has existed since at least 2015.

Lucas, last year you told me that I could submit the fire alarm letter,

at any point during the coverage period, and receive a total refund.

And now, Darlene, you are telling me the calculation is *pro rata*.

I am sorry, but I disagree.

I have the message from Lucas regarding this.

As for the new insurance, I would prefer to have the new coverage and new quote with the fire alarm letter already included.

I do not understand why I would need to pay for insurance without the fire alarm letter

only to receive a refund for it later; that makes no sense.

Please recalculate my insurance renewal quote and send it to me, now with the Nine Letter.

The additional credit.

Universal P&C Insurance said policy renewal 9/01/2026  would need  to be paid before the credit is added, if policy is paid

In full , Universal will send a refund for the discount.

 

Any credit to the policy 9/01/25 to9/01/26  would be up to the underwriting guidelines as alarm certificate was

uploaded 8/28/2026.
