Beginning at= Simpson Park=2C we walked the neighborhood to hear directly from resident= s=2C identify quality-of-life concerns=2C and discuss ongoing projects imp= acting the community.

These walkthroughs continue to be one of the= most effective ways to connect residents with decision-makers and ensure= neighborhood concerns are documented firsthand. Mayor Eileen Higgins recently= announced in her newsletter that=2C effective immediately=2C she has assu= med the role of Chairwoman of the Miami City Commission=2C a responsibilit= y established under the City Charter.


In her message to residents=2C Chairwo= man Higgins outlined several priorities that will guide the Commission's w= ork=2C including fiscal responsibility=2C permitting reforms=2C infrastruc= ture investments=2C public safety=2C and more efficient=2C resident-focuse= d governance.

The next Miami= City Commission Meeting will take place on Wednesday=2C July 23=2C at 9:0= 0 AM. Residents are encouraged to watch or attend to stay informed about d= ecisions that may impact our community.

Commissioner Lopez also reaffirmed her commitment to protecting the tr= ee canopy and discussed efforts to return zoning authority to the City of= Miami.
